Streaming giants lNetflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and Apple TV+ are releasing some new films and TV series starring big names like Benedict Cumberbatch, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Benicio Del Toro this week.

Documentaries, thrillers, new superhero series, reality shows and Korean dramas are just some of the genres coming up this week. There's bound to be entertainment for everyone in the family.

Here’s the best of what’s coming to the top streaming platforms this week:

Netflix

The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar (2023) Netflix Original – Coming to Netflix on Wednesday September 27, this is the first of several short films based on the Roald Dahl short stories from Wes Anderson. The film stars Ralph Fiennes, Benedict Cumberbatch, Dev Patel, Ben Kingsley and Richard Ayoade.

Reptile (2023) Netflix Original – The film centres around a hardened detective who attempts to uncover the truth behind the brutal murder of a young real estate agent. Nothing is as it seems however and the detective dismantles the illusions in his own life. The film stars Benicio Del Toro and Justin Timberlake and will be released on Friday, September 29.

Prime Video

The Fake Sheikh (2023) - The documentary series explores the life of maverick British reporter Mazher Mahmood whose exposes generated headlines by his use of false identities to ensnare royals, sports stars, politicians, celebrities and members of the public. The series will be available on Prime Video on Tuesday, September 26.

Available September 29:

Gen V (2023) - From the world of "The Boys" comes "Gen V," which explores the first generation of superheroes to know that their super powers are from Compound V. These heroes put their physical and moral boundaries to the test competing for the school's top ranking. According to IMDB, the first three episodes will be dropping on Friday, September 29.

Some older movies and TV series are coming to Prime on Sunday, October 1, including Beethoven, Scooby-Doo (2002), several old James Bond films with Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan and the superhero flop Green Lantern (2011) which Ryan Reynolds fans might still want to re-watch.

Christmas films and Mariah Carey Christmas content is also dropping on October 1. The 2021 Suicide Squad film will also be available.

Disney+

Other than new episodes of Futurama, Only Murders In The Building, Star Wars: Ahsoka, The D’Amelio Show and Welcome To Wrexham, this week will also bring in the premiere of The Kardashians Season 4.

Coming to Disney+ on Thursday, September 28, the Kardashians will give an all access pass into their lives: from running billion-dollar businesses to playtime and school drop-offs.

The Worst of Evil - this one is for all the kdrama fans out there. Set in 1990s Seoul, the series follows police officer Park Jun-mo, who goes undercover to infiltrate a notorious crime organisation pushing a new drug in nightclubs.

However, he discovers that his wife has volunteered for the same undercover assignment, and shares history with the gang’s leader. The first three episodes of The Worst of Evil will be released simultaneously on Wednesday, September 27.

Apple TV+

Other than new episodes of the documentary The Super Models and the comedy series Still Up, Apple TV+ is also releasing an original film this week.

Flora and Son is a musical comedy-drama following Flora, a single mom who is at war with her son Max. Trying to find a hobby for him, she rescues a guitar from a dumpster and finds that one person's trash can be a family's salvation. The film is coming to Apple TV+ on September 29.
