There are plenty of upcoming films and TV series that will be dropping on streaming giants like Netflix and Disney+ in the second half of August.
From recent theatrical releases like Cocaine Bear, M3GAN, Timothee Chalamet's Bones and All, and Dungeons and Dragons: Honour Among Thieves, to long-awaited series like Star Wars: Ahsoka and the limited documentary series Depp v. Heard, there's plenty of content for a quiet night in.
We've compiled a list of the most exciting releases that various streaming services have to planned for the rest of the month.
Netflix
Tomorrow, August 16, will have a few intriguing releases, including the Depp v. Heard (Limited Series) Netflix Original. The three-part documentary series will be looking back at the 2022 court trial of actors Amber Heard and Johnny Depp.

Another series dropping on the streaming service tomorrow, this one fictional, is The Chosen One (Season 1). From Millarworld, this new multilingual series sees a 12-year-old develop Jesus-like superpowers.
Russell Crowe will be starring in the 2023 horror film The Pope’s Exorcist about the Chief Exorcist of the Vatican investigating a young boy’s terrifying possession.
Another film with a religious background, Boy Erased (2018), is about the son of a Baptist church unwilling to be part of a church-supported gay conversion program.
Sports fans can also watch At Home with the Furys (Season 1) Netflix Original, a docu-series spending time with Tyson Fury and his family.
On August 24, fans of the Norwegian fantasy series Ragnarok can binge the final season of the story based on the Norse gods. Meanwhile, those looking for something new can check out the limited series Who Is Erin Carter? - a British crime thriller series about a woman who gets involved in a conspiracy after being robbed at a supermarket.
And on August 31, Riverdale fans can watch the final, seventh season of The CW’s Archie Comics adaptation.
Prime Video
Plenty of old classics dropped on Prime Video earlier this month, including Me, Myself and Irene (2000); Road to El Dorado (2000); Saw movie series (2004); The Addams Family (2019); The Punisher (2004).
A more exciting addition is the gory romantic horror Bones and All starring Timothee Chalamet and Taylor Russell about a pair of young cannibals who flee together on a road trip across the United States of America and develop feelings for each other.
Another romantic story, this one LGBT, is Red, White & Royal Blue (2023), a romantic comedy film about the son of the President of the United States and a British prince who fall in love.
Cocaine Bear (2023), a comedy horror based on true events, has dropped today. The film, which follows the story of an American black bear that ingested nearly 34 kg of lost cocaine, received surprisingly positive reviews when it came out earlier this year.
Prime Video subscribers can also expect Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023) on August 25. The American fantasy heist comedy film includes big stars like Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Bridgerton's Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, and Hugh Grant.
Disney+
With Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy: Vol. 3 and Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures being released earlier this month, Disney+ fans still have Star Wars: Ahsoka to look forward to.
The first two episode of the series will be released on August 23. The story is set after the fall of the Empire and follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.
Another series to catch up with and start following is Only Murders In The Building, a comedic murder-mystery series about three strangers (Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez) who share an obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves wrapped up in one.
Now TV
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves will be dropping on August 18 and those who have a Now TV subscription instead of a Prime Video one can watch it a week earlier than it's Prime release.
The film about the start of the #MeToo movement, She Said (2022), will be released on August 19. The story follows reporters Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey as they break the story about a Hollywood actress sexually assaulted by movie producer Harvey Weinstein.
Doctor Who and Marvel actress Karen Gillian stars in the sci-fi film Next Exit (2022) about the existence of the afterlife. The film will be dropped on Now TV on August 20.
American science fiction horror film M3GAN which had its theatrical release this January, will be released on August 25. The plot follows an artificially intelligent doll who develops self-awareness and becomes hostile toward anyone who comes between her and her human companion.
