Charlie Bird has vowed "nothing will stop him" on the two year anniversary of his Motor Neurone Disease diagnosis.
The 74-year-old has bravely raised awareness and funds for charities after going public with his health issues in late 2021. Charlie has recently began using a wheelchair due to mobility issues and also confirmed he has been fitted with a feeding tube.
However, the former journalist pledged to keep fighting the disease in the face of adversity. He took to Twitter to share his sentiments about the challenging past two years.

He wrote: "Two years ago this week I got my diagnosis of Motor Neurone. Along with my lost voice, now I depend on a feeding tube, and from now on I will be using a wheelchair."
He added: "But nothing is going to stop me helping groups who extend the hand of friendship while I have a breath in my body."
People took to the comments section to voice their support for Charlie. One Twitter user informed the broadcaster they completed the 'Climb with Charlie' trek up Croagh Patrick in 2022 in a wheelchair.
The charitable initiative raised around €3 million for charities such as Pieta House and the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association. Familiar faces such as Ryan Tubridy and Daniel O'Donnell also embarked on the 4 hour round hike.
