Garda Commissioner Drew Harris has hit out at those responsible for attacks on Garda vehicles in the city centre amid tonight's violence.
Heated crowds have gathered in town this evening after three schoolchildren were stabbed in Parnell Square this afternoon. A Garda car was previously set ablaze by angry people in the city centre.
Harris slammed those responsible for a slew of attacks on Garda vehicles tonight. He urged people to go home as fears of a full-blown riot escalate.

He warned: "There is a complete lunatic faction driven by far right ideology being disruptive. They're engaging in serious violence and we are drafting in resources to deal with that - this will be dealt with properly."
Harris also confirmed that the motive for today's horror attack remains unclear. Gardai are keen to remain open minded in the early stages of the investigation.
Five people were hospitalised including a man aged in his late 40s, a woman in her 30s and three schoolchildren. Gardai previously confirmed that the injured man is a person of interest in their enquiries.
A young girl is fighting for her life in Temple Street Hospital. The woman in her 30s is also seriously injured and is receiving treatment at the Mater.
The two other children, aged five and six, were brought to Crumlin Children's Hospital with less severe injuries. One child, a boy, was released from hospital earlier today.
