Construction on Ireland's newest train stop will start later this week in north Dublin.
Work on Pelletstown Station will officially get underway on Wednesday following a ceremony at the site.
The €10 million station, which is just 4km from the city centre on the Maynooth line, will have a journey time of just 12 minutes into town.
Planning permission for the train stop was granted by Dublin City Council in 2018, almost two decades after it was first proposed.
Pelletstown Station will be situated between Ashtown and Broombridge stations and will serve the existing community of Ashington as well as the new community at Royal Canal Park.
It's the first new station to open on the Iarnród Éireann network since Oranmore opened in 2013, and will be the 145 station on the network in total.
It was first proposed in the late 1990s and in 2002 was earmarked as an "immediate priority" in Irish Rail’s greater Dublin area Integrated Rail Network Plan.
The chief executive of the National Transport Authority, Anne Graham and chief executive of Iarnród Éireann, Jim Meade will be at Pelletstown Station on Wednesday at 1pm to mark the commencement of the construction.
