DART passengers had to walk along the railway line in darkness last night after a major disruption caused them to be stuck on the tram between Shankill and Bray for an hour.
The incident was caused by power line damage in Killiney. The line between Dalkey and Greystones was shut with knock-on delays affecting other services, and services remained suspended until morning for emergency overnight repairs.
A spokeswoman for Irish Rail told Dublin Live: "The 18:40hrs Howth Bray service stopped just outside Shankill due to over head power line damage.

"The 40 passengers onboard were walked safely the 30 metres back to the platform by my colleagues. They were approximately an hour onboard.
"There were no services between Dalkey and Greystones for the rest of the evening."
The damage was repaired over night and all services are currently operating as normal.
Higher Education Minister Simon Harris has called for Irish Rail to carry a full investigation to ensure this does not happen again. He said on social media last night: "Really worrying to read about this tonight. It is unacceptable and dangerous for passengers and staff, who had to walk from Shankill to Bray.
"Irish Rail must carry out a full investigation so this does not happen again. Answers are urgently needed."
