The DSPCA has launched its emotive Christmas campaign with a goal of €250,000.
The charity have launched their 'Who's a Good Human?' appeal amid an alarming rise in neglect and cruelty cases across 2023. DSPCA's media spokesperson Gillian Bird confirmed the shelter's numbers have soared when compared to the beginning of the year.
The Christmas campaign pleads with people to look out for animals and consider giving them a permanent home. People are encouraged more than ever to visit the shelter directly as not all available pets are advertised directly online.

Gillian told Dublin Live: "It's going to be a really busy Christmas for us here. This campaign is really about giving a voice to the voiceless animals who can't cry out for help."
Veterinary, electricity and fuel costs have also spiralled for the Dublin charity in recent times. Gillian acknowledged that €250,000 is a hefty target but the charity has no alternative but to ask for help.
She said: "We really need people who are willing to donate to get on board. It is getting increasingly difficult to do the job with the added costs- the more money we raise, the more animals we can help and subsequently rehome."
You can donate to the 'Who's a Good Human?' campaign through the DSPCA website and their social channels including Instagram, Twitter and TikTok.
