A packed crowd of Dublin GAA fans filled up Smithfield Square earlier today to celebrate the All Ireland winning team who beat Kerry on Sunday.
Manager Dessie Farrell and his championship side were welcomed by the crowd. The voice of GAA Marty Morrissey once again MC'ed the event.
Gossip Band kept the crowd entertained as they awaited the arrival of the Dublin GAA team. Lord Mayor Daithi De Roiste also belted out a tune on the stage, the much loved Dublin song "The Rare Old Times".
The Sam Maguire was then brought out on stage to loud applause. It was then held up on the Smithfield stage to a great cheer from the crowd who chanted for Dublin.
Dessie Farrell told the crowd: "To achieve the ultimate for us it's a fantastic day as a group. Delighted for the players, for all the wonderful supporters, the best in the world. [It was] great to see the spirit and energy in the city yesterday.
"Obviously the bond between the players is something special. That's what drives them all, year after year. The connection between the players and supporters is fantastic as well. No matter what venue we go to throughout the country, there's a great buzz. The lads love to play for the supporters and we always respond really well, wherever we travel, we see their enthusiasm."
James McCarthy followed up, saying: "Ah look, it feels amazing. Been reflecting over the last 24 hours and it's definitely special. Just delighted for the group, delighted for the team. It was a great win for us yesterday and all the hard work throughout the year paid off. It's very special."
As the crowd cheered the Sam Maguire winning team, a chorus of "There's only one Mick Fitzsimons" echoed around Smithfield Square.
