McSorley’s of Ranelagh is one of those pubs that almost guarantees people will have a good time there: with some excellent pub grub, warm atmosphere and great pints.
While its traditional pub facade and classic wooden interiors are a common trait for this species, McSorley’s has embraced modern times as well – they have regular Smart Phone Pub Quiz nights and their three big screens and thirteen TVs make it a popular spot for match days. So if you want to go somewhere for Ireland V Scotland on Saturday, October 7, McSorley’s might be just the place for you.
The family-owned and run venue is not only for sports fans or quiz-loving millennials however. It’s also perfect for families, people on dates (maybe even singles on the lookout), catching up with friends and after work pints.

There’s live music every Friday, as well as a late bar every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night with a DJ from 10pm. So if you’re out with friends in the evening and you notice the lights start to dim and the music volume gets louder, this is your sign to get wild.
McSorley’s has definitely achieved a status of one of Dublin’s best-loved bars but the great food and the comprehensive drinks list are definitely a part of the reason as well.
There’s a selection of lager, IPA, pale ale, wheat beer and cider, as well as some bottled favourites like Erdinger. For those who prefer the stronger stuff, there’s nearly 70 types of whiskey, as well as scotch, bourbon, rum, brandy, vodka and gin. Wine lovers can also find something nice there, and they have all the classic cocktails, with espresso martini being their signature one.
The all-day menu meanwhile has all of your favourite pub grub including sandwiches, burgers, chicken wings, chicken goujons, fish and chips, and steak. Prices are a bit on the expensive side but this is Ranelagh after all.
