Dunnes Stores shoppers are being warned to watch out for a clever scam that offers unreal discounts and steals credit card details and personal information.
A counterfeit website, which mimics the appearance and layout of the genuine Dunnes Stores site, is luring customers with irresistible discounts. It claims to offer up to 65 per cent off clothing and shows an "offer limited" countdown clock designed to instill a sense urgency in shoppers.
Victims of the scam could have their personal information and credit card details stolen, on top of losing money by buying items that they will likely never receive, reports The Irish Mirror. Content creator FYIYA alerted people after uncovering the scam. She said on TikTok: “If you’re a Dunnes Stores customer you really need to take a look at this brand new scam that’s happening so you don’t get caught out."

Showing a screenshot of the fake website, she explained: “When you see a Dunnes Stores website, this is what you’d expect to see - except this is actually a scam website. As you can see, where it says ‘Offer Limited’, it tells you that there is absolutely 65 per cent off everything on the website - which should be your first red flag - except when you look up at the top of the page, you will notice something different.
"Instead of the usual dunnesstores.ie, instead you will notice dunnesstore.fashionstoreie.com, which is in fact a scam website.” Dozens of people took to the comments admitting they or someone they know has fallen victim to the scam.
One person said: “My sister got caught with the school uniforms in the summer. She even got the confirmation email.” Another wrote: “Got caught with this a few months ago. Absolutely raging with myself cause I should have realised. For only it came up first on Google.”
A third posted: “My mam got scammed ordering school uniforms.” Meanwhile someone else said: “Yes my wife got scammed from this website in August just before the children went back to school.” Others admitted, “yep it got me” and “I got done.”
Dunnes Stores has been made aware of the fraudulent website. A Dunnes Stores spokesperson said: “I can confirm this page is not associated with Dunnes Stores and our online team are working on having this removed as soon as possible.”
The website seems to have been removed as of this morning but it's worth staying vigilant for any other fake websites that might use similar strategies.
