The delivery driver who came to the aid of a five-year-old girl who was seriously injured in last week's stabbing on Parnell Square intends to help her family after the harrowing ordeal.
Caio Benicio, a Deliveroo driver, witnessed the shock attack while on his motorcycle. He was amongst the first responders to the distressing scene on Thursday afternoon.
The 43-year-old bravely stopped the violence by grabbing his helmet before whacking the assailant with it. A GoFundMe was subsequently set up to commend his heroism, which has raised €366,175 to date.

The Brazilian native has now vowed to help out the family of the young girl fighting for her life after the attack. The five-year-old remains in a critical condition in Temple Street Hospital after the incident.
Caio wrote on GoFundMe: "Thank you so much to everyone who has donated over the last few days. It has been so overwhelming seeing all of your support and I am so grateful. I wanted to share with you all that I have been in contact with the family of the little girl and I have offered to assist them in any way I can."
He added he has not yet received a response from the family. Caio explained he wishes to show the same solidarity to the young girl's relatives as granted to him over the past few days.
A separate GoFundMe has also been launched for the creche worker injured in the attack. The carer has been named locally as Leanne Flynn and remains in a serious but stable condition in the Mater Hospital.
