The mother of Saoirse Ruane has announced a "devastating" update on her daughter's battle with cancer.
Saoirse captured our hearts in 2020 when she appeared on the Late Late Toy Show. She told then-host Ryan Tubridy about a tumour that forced her to have her right leg amputated. The young girl received her first diagnosis almost exactly four years ago but she has been diagnosed with cancer a further three times since then.
This week, she celebrated the release of her charity single Sing for Saoirse by going on a surprise trip to London. However, her mam Roseanna has shared a shocking health update yesterday.

She said on social media: "Health update 23-11-23. It’s been a week of highs and lows in our household this past seven days. Starting with a gorgeous surprise family trip to London for the girls, the release of Saoirse’s charity single 'Sing for Saoírse' and the excitement and nostalgia of the pending Toy Show tomorrow night.
"Unfortunately along with the excitement we received some devastating news yesterday at Saoirse’s review. It’s been three months since her last review and while her tumour in her left lung is relatively static, yesterdays CT scan shows her cancer has now spread to her other lung. This came as a huge shock to us as Saoirse has been doing so well.
"In just six more days it will be four years since her journey with cancer began. Four diagnosis in four years is very hard to take."
She continued: "While we are still trying to process this new information, the show must go on. Saoirse is the bravest soul we know and her one and only request on hearing this heartbreaking news last night was to put up the Christmas tree.
"So that's what we are doing, putting up the decorations ahead of tomorrow's toy show.
"As always we ask you to continue to pray for our brave resilient girl x."
Several followers of Saoirse's journey were heartbroken by the news. One wrote: "So terribly sad to read this. Will continue to pray for Saoirse every day. I hope she has the best night watching the Toy Show tomorrow".
A second follower wrote: "Omg the poor child...so much ....I will be sending the angels to help her love to you and strength".
