Gardai have located €400,000 worth of gold after National Party leader Justin Barrett claimed a considerable quantity was stolen from his vault .
Barrett, the leader of the far-right party, claimed in a statement that a “considerable quantity of gold, which formed the main part of the Party’s reserves in the event of a mishap in general, or more particularly a collapse in the value of fiat currency” had been taken from a safe vault in Dublin.
He went on to claim there is “currently a garda criminal investigation, fairly accurately directed I would think.”
However Gardai told the Irish Mirror that there is currently no active criminal investigation - but that the gold has been found in a secure location.

“An Garda Siochana does not comment on third party statements or on named individuals.
“An Garda Siochana is carrying out enquiries into an allegation of theft from a premises in Dublin 4,” a Garda spokesperson said.
Mr Barrett went on to say that the alleged theft is “objectively despicable, illegal and traitorous both to the Party, insofar as the Party is the last vanguard of the Irish National in an hour of deep distress, a traitorous act against Ireland too.”
“We will emerge from this fire and trial. Heat makes iron into steel,” he added.
Gardai are now trying to establish the legal owner of the gold. Sources say only when that fact has been established can Gardai assess if a crime has actually been committed.
