We have found the most expensive Dublin home currently on the market, a five bed detached house in Ballsbridge that is being sold for the staggering amount of €12,750,000. The "classical detached Edwardian red brick city residence" was owned by the Starkie family, which included former University College Galway President Rt Hon. William Starkie.
His wife May reportedly entertained all the leading literati and musicians of the day in this house, including W. B. Yeats and his brother Jack Yeats, as well as Irish literary renaissance writer George William Russell who wrote with the pseudonym AE.
Melfort, located on 19 Shrewsbury Road, Ballsbridge, is described as a "20th century city residence of elegant proportions surrounded by extensive private manicured gardens on Dublin's finest residential road". It is understood the house was built circa 1906, and is a with extensive gardens which include a mini orchard, off street parking and "total privacy".
The historical residence extends to approximately 471 sq. m., while the overall site extends to approximately 0.284 ha (0.7 acres).
