The 310-room city centre spot pays tribute to James Joyce's Ulysses with its stunning interior design
Major hotel chain Motel One has finally arrived in Ireland - and their new Dublin hotel offers its guests an incredible experience.
The design of the 310-room Middle Abbey Street hotel takes its guests through the story of Ulysses by James Joyce. Motel One interior designer Barbara Wild worked with Berlin-based illustrator John Rooney as well as local designers, artists and furniture makers to bring her vision to life.
As guests are welcomed to the first Motel One in Ireland, they are greeted with the saying “Cead mile failte” while quotes from the novel are dispersed around the hotel, intertwined with subtle references to Ha’Penny Bridge and Georgian architecture. The Ulysses theme is clear in the reception area with a quote by James Joyce above the reception desks alongside a portrait of the novelist.

In the rooms, guests can enjoy high-quality box-spring beds with Egyptian cotton sheets, rain dance showers, and smart TVs. There is a work area, a stunning bar/lounge and comfortable outdoor seating on the doorstep of Liffey Street.
Daniel Müller, Co-CEO at Motel One, said when guests arrive at their hotels their expectations are exceeded due to the low price. That statement will certainly ring true at their Dublin establishment, with prices starting from as low as €109 night, you'll struggle to find similar comfort for that amount in the capital.
“We’re passionate about embedding our hotels in the culture of each and every city we are in, so Motel One Dublin is no different," Mr Müller said. "Our design theme is inspired by a novel recognised worldwide and which takes in almost all of the major Dublin landmarks and attractions, so we look forward to inspiring guests’ trips to the green island and the city itself.”
