Almost 4,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year in Ireland. This means as many as one in seven males will be affected in their lifetime.

As November is a month dedicated to promoting the physical and mental wellbeing of males and addressing issues such as prostate cancer, Randox Health is offering a new Advanced PSA test (both at home and in clinic) for the reduced price of €18 to encourage males to be proactive about their health.

Prostate cancer is a common form of cancer in men, often going undetected. Symptoms can include needing to pee more frequently, feeling that your bladder has not emptied fully, weak flow, and pain or burning sensations. Risk factors can include age, prostate cancer mainly affects men over the age of 50, family history, and ethnicity.

How does the test work?

The new Advanced PSA test combines traditional PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) testing with a novel combination of biomarkers to help assess your risk of prostate cancer. Results are available in as little as two to four working days.

A recent study demonstrated that this combination of markers significantly improved the predictive potential of PSA alone in identifying individuals with prostate cancer and can help to reduce the need for invasive further investigation in low-risk individuals.

Can’t make it to a clinic?

Traditional PSA testing is available as an at-home test. Measure the level of Prostate Specific Antigen in the blood to help indicate abnormality within the prostate including prostate cancer, an enlarged prostate, prostatitis, or a urinary tract infection (UTI).
