Russell Crowe penned a heartfelt tribute to his pal Ryan Tubridy after confirmation of his latest career move.
The 50-year-old broadcaster will move to London after announcing he had joined the Virgin Radio team in the UK. Ryan will present a mid-morning show on the radio station from January onwards.
Russell Crowe, who has featured as a guest on the Late Late Show, was a surprising figure to wish Ryan well. He described Virgin Radio's decision as a "genius move" on Twitter.

The Oscar winning actor wrote: "Big news for my man Ryan Tubridy. In a genius move VirginRadio UK have signed him to follow Chris Evans show from January. Two of the best broadcasters ever."
Russell's praise did not go unnoticed by Ryan. The former Late Late Show host shared the post to his own Instagram story, alongside the caption "Thank you for the support RC."
The duo have developed a friendship from Russell's appearances on the Late Late Show sofa throughout the years. He previously congratulated Ryan after his departure from the popular chat show in May, describing him as an "Irish institution."
Ryan was dropped from RTE this summer when outrage over his additional payments from the state broadcaster reached an explosive high. Rumours emerged of a potential new career for Ryan in the UK after he embarked on trips to London in recent months.
