Ryan Tubridy mourned the loss of Shane MacGowan through a thoughtful video tribute earlier today.
The 'Fairytale of New York' star passed away at home aged 65 after fighting ill-health. The star had spent a number of months in St Vincent's Hospital but returned home to his wife Victoria Mary Clarke last week.
Ryan spoke fondly of Shane in his Instagram tribute. He confirmed he met the musician on several occasions and even revealed Shane's love of board game Trivial Pursuit.

The former Late Late Show host said: "He was a fascinating figure who I met a few times in recent years. He was a divil with plenty to say, a fan of Trivial Pursuit and a great companion to Victoria Mary who I'm thinking of today alongside his extended family."
Ryan also reflected on a trilogy of monumental losses this year to Ireland's music scene. Fans were devastated after the death of Christy Dignam earlier this year, while the tragic passing of Sinead O'Connor made international headlines.
He added: "The country has lost intrinsically important artists who are part of the fabric of who we are. I will say one thing-heaven, or wherever they are, just got a hell of a lot more interesting. May he rest in peace."
The musical legend, known best for the festive hit 'Fairytale of New York', would have turned 66 on Christmas Day. He was recently visited in hospital by famous pals such as Imelda May and Pogues member Spider Stacy.
