Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan passed away earlier today, while Sinead O'Connor died in July - and an old clip of the two friends discussing death has resurfaced as people reminisce about their legacy.
MacGowan's death was announced today by his wife Victoria Mary Clarke - just a week after the singer was released from hospital following a lengthy stay there. The heart-wrenching announcement came almost exactly four months after singer Sinead O'Connor tragically died aged 56.
With people reminiscing about their legacy, an old clip of Sinead and The Pogues star being interviewed by Pat Kenny in 1995 made its rounds on social media. Shane and Sinead were famously close, having teamed up on numerous occasions - most memorably for hit single Haunted.

The two friends made an appearance on the Kenny Live show to promote their song, Haunted, which was written for the 1986 movie Sid and Nancy. The movie focused on the turbulent relationship between Sex Pistols star Sid Vicious and his girlfriend Nancy Spungen. Shane, who knew Sid and Nancy, said the song was "happy in a way cos they’re reunited somewhere else."
Sinead then opened up about her own mortality and added: "What are we all doing here, how does the earth hang in space and what’s going to happen to me when I die, is it going to be slow and painful?
"But I think if you get through birth which is the most difficult passage then death is surely a breeze."
The Pogues originally recorded the song but Sinead and Shane re-recorded it in 1992.
In 2000, Sinead reported her friend of many years to the police in London for drug possession, in what she said was an attempt to discourage him from using heroin. At the time of his arrest, Sinead said she phoned emergency services after finding him collapsed on the floor of his home.
The charges were eventually discontinued at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court in London. At first furious, Shane later expressed gratitude towards her and claimed that the incident helped him kick his heroin habit.
When the news of the Nothing Compares 2 U hitmaker broke in July this year, Victoria Mary took to Twitter to share a picture of Sinead and Shane together alongside a touching tribute. She wrote: "We don’t really have words for this but we want to thank you.
"Sinead for your love and your friendship and your compassion and your humour and your incredible music. We pray that you are at peace now with your beautiful boy. Love Victoria and Shane."
Shane retweeted his wife's message onto his own Twitter account and penned: "Sinead I love you and I hope you are at peace."
