Shane MacGowan and his wife Victoria Mary Clarke have said they are "deeply and eternally grateful" as he was released from hospital today.
The Pogues frontman, 65, who was hospitalised with viral encephalitis in June, left St Vincent's Hospital earlier today. Taking to Twitter to share the update, Victoria thanked the doctors and nurses at the hospital for their care in the last few months.
She said: "Shane got out of the hospital! We are deeply and eternally grateful to all of the doctors and nurses and staff at St Vincent’s it’s the best ! And special thanks to Tom Creagh and Brian Corscadden for your help."

The brilliant update comes only days after Shane had a special visit from his friend Imelda May. The Liberties woman has popped in to see him several times during his hospital stay.
Many took to Twitter to share their well wishes to the legendary singer who will be heard across the world over the Christmas period on "Fairytale of New York". One said: "What a blessing! May Shane continue to make progress and gain his strength, in the coming days. Bravo, to the powers that be, that made his coming home possible. Continued prayers, for both Shane and @Victoriamary , his guardian angel on earth."
While another added: "Awh great news!! There's no fireside like your own fireside..enjoy the home comforts Shane!! Love at ya both!" And a third adding: "This is brilliant news. I'm so happy for you both and now that he will be home for Christmas. hope you both have the best one yet. Give Shane my best."
