A South Dublin County Councillor has announced her resignation.
Cllr Carley Bailey of the Social Democrats represented the Rathfarnham-Templeogue electorate. She previously served as vice-chair of the Social Democrats before stepping down from said position in 2019.
Cllr Bailey thanked the public for their support to date in her political career on Twitter. She teased that the party was in good hands with her as of yet unnamed replacement.

She wrote on Twitter : "With a heavy heart, I have decided to step down as a Councillor. I’ll still be working in policy and politics & will continue to fight for change, but in a different way."
She added: "We have a great person ready to take over so I know I’m leaving my post in good hands. Will have more details on that soon."
Cllr Bailey added she hopes to spend more time with her family and close friends upon her departure from the position. People wished her well underneath the Twitter post in her future projects.
One person wrote: "Anyone putting themselves forward to serve their community deserve thanks for all they do in that regard. Thank you and best of luck for the future."
