The tenants of Tathony House have been hit with a new eviction notice just weeks before Christmas.
Residents of the 34-unit Kilmainham apartment block were originally issued eviction notices back in October 2022 by their landlord. The Residential Tenancies Board (RTB) dismissed the original attempts to evict as invalid but the landlord subsequently demanded a tribunal with the board.
The tribunal was due to take place on Tuesday November 28th but tenants were informed by the RTB last weekend via email that the landlord has dropped his appeal. However, a fresh eviction notice has now been issued to the tenants.

Tenant James O'Toole said: "Our landlord could make his millions by selling to the council but refuses to even engage. It's all about money for these people and he is holding out for a higher price for a private sale. We need real tenants rights in Ireland so that tenants don't face emergency accommodation and homelessness."
Cllr Madeleine Johansson, also a tenant at Tathony House, said: "We are not just fighting for ourselves but also for the 15,000 families and households served notices recently. Stay in your homes and fight like we have done. We gained another year by organising and we will continue to fight with protests and in the RTB and courts."
