A video where a "consent" display is destroyed by suspected drunk pranksters has created a large reaction on social media.
The video shows the guys hitting balloons and tearing down clothes hung up in Dublin City University.
The items were displayed alongside posters which read: 'My clothes don't determine my consent' and 'It Stops Now'.
The display is a reference to the 'It Stops Now' campaign, which aims to prevent sexual violence and harassment in third-level education. It is being funded by the European Commission.
The video was shared on social media, where it quickly gained attention on twitter with a severe backlash of comments.
One student wrote: "Every single year without fail since my first year in DCU, there has been some type of annual scandal almost always at the expense of women. One incident is bad, multiple is a pattern. Sort it out."
DCU's Student Union said online: "To the students who tore down this display because you thought it would be funny, good craic, or anything of the sort; it’s not.
"The level of disrespect & ignorance shown is exactly why things like this are so very necessary. This is vandalism and this is not ok.”
The video has been taken down by the original uploader, but is still visible online by those who shared it. Others have asked for the video to be taken down.
One tweet read: "There has been context given on this, the lads in the video have sent a long explanatory email to DCUSU and have apologised profusely.
"They are not DCU students and they thought it was decorations for the blind date event. When they were told what it was they cleaned it up."
Another poster said: "Obviously they shouldn’t have done it anyway, and I would never defend someone who had purposely belittled this important issue.
"The reality is is that they made a stupid mistake with no malicious intent and since apologised for their actions. That should be enough for Twitter."
